What is the Book Club Collection?

The Book Club Collection provides copies of books to book clubs, other libraries and organizations, and to book clubs sponsored by community libraries. Most sets have up to twelve copies. Sets check out on one library card for six weeks, with no renewals. The set can be held for two weeks before it is picked up.

How can I request a Book Club Set?

Book Club sets can be requested by calling 531-6333 x2030, preferably during weekdays between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Fridays before noon. Please leave a message and we will return your call.

Can I request any book title for a Book Club Set?

No. Only the titles on the list are available as book club sets.

Where can I find a list of books in the Book Club Collection?

At the top of this page. There is also a shorter list of each book by author and title.

What if I want to pick all of the books for the year from the Book Club Collection?

If your book club wants to choose titles for the entire year, it is recommended that you select 15-20 titles and be flexible about when you get them. About half of the over 280 sets are checked out at any time.

How far in advance do I need to make a request?

You can request a title no more than about two weeks from the time you would like to pick it up. It takes one day to get to any library.

What do I do if I need a set today?

First call the book club line at 531-6333 x2030. You can pick up a set at the Penrose Library within two hours after speaking to us.

Where can a patron pick up a Book Club Set?

Sets can be picked up at any library location and returned to any library.

How many sets can I have checked out?

You may have more than one set checked out at a time. Ideally, you will hand out the new set at the same meeting you pick up the old set.

What do I do if I damage a book?

Please replace the book with a new copy of the same edition.
